Throughout NASCAR history, the races did more than just provide exciting television. The drama we watched on the track, also helped define the vehicles we saw hit the streets. The win on Sunday and sell on Monday wasn’t just a phrase, at one time manufacturers truly lived by that motto.

But for the most part, what we have seen on the streets has been extremely tuned down versions of their NASCAR counterparts. However, legendary NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham decided to flip that thinking on its head when he built his 1964 Plymouth Belvedere aptly named ForPly.

ForPly is a completely restored 1964 Plymouth Belvedere body that has literally been crammed with NASCAR internals. If you never raised the hood or simply glanced at the pristine Sherwin-Williams’ Radiant Red automotive matte paint finish, you would miss the biggest secret of this vehicle.

Under the hood sits a former Kasey Kahne driven Evernham Motorsports Dodge R5-P7 race engine that has been re-formulated as a fuel injected, 358 cubic-inch V8 that puts 750 horsepower to the rear wheels! The NASCAR theme continues with a functional NASCAR air box, radiator, and a NASCAR 4-speed transmission that feeds the power to a 9-inch rear-end with a 3.60 gear. Combine all of this and the Plymouth is easily capable of 200mph! “This car is very special to me, Evernham explained. “It takes all the things that I have learned in my career, and puts them into one vehicle.”

The NASCAR theme doesn’t stop with the engine, the chassis of the vehicle is a literal NASCAR Sprint Cup COT Chassis that raced in the Daytona 500. From custom NASCAR style rims, to the NASCAR style carbon fiber front splitter, everything about this vehicle screams NASCAR.

Even the interior features a Graphite Grey colored, race inspired cockpit. Carbon fiber panels and race bucket seats continue the NASCAR theme, while both driver and passenger have digital racepack gauges displaying on the dash infront of them. The sell also includes an owner’s manual designed by the team at Evernham Enterprises.

Some might look at the ForPly, and wonder why use a ’64 Belvedere body to house this monster? But for Evernham, it was the obvious choice, “Because of my association with Dodge, I just fell in love with Dodge and Plymouth automobiles,” The two-time Daytona 500 winning crew-chief explained, “To me the ‘64 Plymouth really says NASCAR racing.”

He’s not kidding either; the Plymouth model is rich with motorsports history. Entering the 1964 Daytona 500 Chrysler sought to regain the ground they lost to Ford at the previous year’s event by introducing a 2nd generation of their hemispherical shaped combustion chamber design that would go on to be known famously as the Hemi.

Not only did it propel Richard Petty to his first Daytona 500 victory, but the top three drivers were all behind the wheel of a ’64 Plymouth Belvederes equipped with Hemis. After sweeping the podium, everyone got the memo… Chrysler was back!

Adding to this incredible buy, is all auction proceeds go to the Evernham Family Racing for a Reason Foundation, which is funding IGNITE, a Davidson, N.C.-based program that supports adults with High-Functioning Autism or Asperger Syndrome.
Don’t miss your chance to own this one of a kind NASCAR inspired Plymouth.
